New reports have revealed that tensions between Joy Behar and Meghan McCain have boiled over on the set of “The View,” as the proud conservative can no longer handle the liberal host’s ignorant nonsense.
Sources at ABC say that tensions between Behar, 75, and McCain, 33, have reached nuclear levels, and they show no signs of getting any better. Daily Mail reported that had last month, producers had Behar and McCain work with interior designer Jeremiah Brent to do makeovers on each other’s dressing rooms in the hopes that the two bond. However, while the women were temporarily pleasant to each other, things got heated between them once again during a February 9 hot topic segment.
Behar slammed White House Chief of Staff John Kelly for saying he was “shocked” by the domestic abuse claims against staffer Rob Porter even though it was reporter that he already knew about his past. McCain was furious with this, as she felt that mocking Kelly was offensive to Porter’s ex-wives. An on-air blowup ensued, with McCain saying, “It is very serious and as a Republican, I am offended,” before Behar countered, “As a Democrat, I am offended by Republicans!”
The two hosts continued to battle in an argument that mirrored the legendary on-camera spat between former View co-hosts Rosie O’Donnell and Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
“It was like Rosie versus Elizabeth 2.0 without the split screen,” an ABC source said. “It just escalated out of nowhere and everyone backstage and in the control room totally freaked out initially. If you think it was uncomfortable it was watching it on TV, imagine being in the studio audience and the staff behind the scenes.”
Following this argument, McCain became withdrawn and refused to participate in the show as much as she did before. The two then retreated to their dressing rooms and each sounded off to the show’s producers.
“I’m sick of Meghan’s bulls**t. This s**t has to stop,” Behar allegedly yelled, adding that she can’t stomach any more of McCain’s whining about everyone hating her because she’s a conservative and how the audience hates her.
“If she doesn’t want to work here let her a** go,” the source said Behar told executives, before adding, “If I hear her say ‘my father’ one more time on this show, I’m going to puke on live TV.”
The source said McCain also complained to producers.
“She kept screaming, ‘I can’t believe she said she’s offended by all Republicans. Who does she think she is?'”
McCain went on to vent about how she believes “The View” is a toxic environment.
“For all of this drama I could have just stayed at Fox News for God’s sake,” McCain allegedly said.
McCain has reportedly tried to quit “The View” twice, but has been talked out of it both times. ABC is reportedly desperate not to lose McCain, as she has proven to be ratings gold for the show.
“Meghan may be hell to work with, but people are tuning in each day to see which co-host she’s going to have a fight with next. Her craziness creates good TV for ABC. It’s almost like The View is becoming The Real Housewives of Talk Show Hosts with all the constant drama daily,” the source concluded.
