Trump family members and unqualified White House staffers, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, are skating on thin ice. Even President Trump sees it’s about time for them to go before the pot boils over. Amid a new controversy, perhaps Trump will finally make an intelligent decision after showing far too much leniency to his family members.
All along the campaign trail, Donald Trump attacked Hillary Clinton over her use of a private email server. Well, a recent report by Politico, says Jared and Ivanka have sent hundreds of emails using a private third-party email account while serving as President Trump’s advisors. This lapse in judgement landed them in hot water, and now their future is up for debate.
Their shared account reportedly began receiving government-related emails in early January, at the start of Trump’s Presidency. The emails include internal travel documents, schedules, as well as other more sensitive White House materials. In addition, Ivanka Trump’s assistant, Bridges Lamar, has been a regular user of the account. Bridges sent several “daily” emails containing work-related “data,” according to Politico’s source.
Previous reports released late last month had already exposed Jared and Ivanka’s use of private email accounts. This recently discovered shared email account is entirely new. The hypocrisy is mind-boggling considering the president repeatedly attacked Clinton’s use of her private email account while she served as Secretary of State. Yet, for once President Trump might make the right decision – or at least he’s alluding to such.
Several major news outlets also documented this slip up alongside Politico. In yet another recent report, USA Today wrote that, “President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump re-routed their personal email accounts to computers run by the Trump Organization as public scrutiny intensified over their use of private emails to conduct White House business, internet registration records show.”
“The move, made just days after Kushner’s use of a personal email account first became public, came shortly after special counsel Robert Mueller asked the White House to turn over records related to his investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with Trump associates. It also more closely intertwines President Trump’s administration with his constellation of private businesses.”
“Kushner, who is a senior adviser to the president, first faced scrutiny for his private email use on Sept. 24, when his lawyer confirmed that he had occasionally used a personal email account to communicate with other White House officials.” – USA Today
Of course, President Trump might very well stay completely silent on the matter. However, recent comments reported by Politico suggest he’s already reconsidering her position. In a excerpt on the subject, The Hill wrote, “President Trump is privately questioning whether having his family members serve in the White House creates too much of a distraction for his administration, according to a new report.
Politico reported on Friday that Trump has been quietly talking to other administration officials as he reconsiders the roles of White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. “Baby, you’re getting killed, this is a bad deal,” Trump reportedly told Ivanka Trump in a room with other staffers after viewing criticism of his daughter’s role in the administration.
Ivanka Trump faced heavy criticism during last July’s G20 summit when she briefly sat in for her father at a meeting with world leaders. Trump defended his daughter on Twitter at the time, arguing that the same standard would not exist for Hillary Clinton‘s daughter Chelsea Clinton.” – The Hill
