Senator Dick Durbin, who has a long history of being loosely connected with reality, waded into the murky brown waters of the “sh*thole countries” controversy on Friday. Durbin, who was actually in the Oval Office meeting with President Trump, spoke with reporters Friday and stated that media reports surrounding Trump’s comments yesterday were accurate.
Now, before everybody starts jumping the gun and calling the president a liar, let’s take into consideration a few facts…
Remember back in 2005 when the liberal senator compared the United States to Nazi Germany over conditions at Guantanamo Bay? Radio host Rush Limbaugh and White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove accused Durbin of treason, while former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich called on the Senate to censure Durbin.
And what about in 2014 when Durbin lied to conceal the fact that his female staffers were paid on average $11,000 less than his male staffers?
So, just to be clear, Senator Durbin is not known for his truth-telling or his fact-finding. As a career politician and swamp monster extraordinaire, you have to take what this man says with a grain of salt.
In that vein, here’s what Durbin alleges about the president’s comments, per Axios:
If he did, do you care? And do you agree?
