The mass shooting at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on February 14, 2018, killed seventeen people and wounded the same amount.
What the media would have you believe is that the National Rifle Association radicalized white men to gun down innocent people on a regular basis despite ‘Gun Free Zone’ signs being clearly positioned for all to see.
The Left and the media have chosen to ignore a paraphrasing of the maxim about bank robbers that instead would say ‘school shooters target schools because that is where the victims are’ (H/T Mark Steyn). To recognize that good men with guns are often the only way to truly stop bad men similarly armed would be waving the flag of surrender regarding the liberal preference for gun confiscation.

According to ABC, some teachers in Texas are exercising their right to defend themselves and their charges by undergoing training in proper firearm handling and targeting.
The network tweeted the following on March 13:
“16 teachers in Texas spent their Saturday training on how to handle a gun in the event of an active shooter situation. ‘We do our best to have security at our schools, but you never know what’s gonna happen.’”

The last line of defense for students in a shooting situation is often their teacher. During the Parkland shooting, a school resource officer and a policeman both remained outside as they heard shots and knew that students were being killed. In a situation like that, it comes down to the teacher and staff of a school to act as defenders of our most precious resource.
Kudos to these teachers for taking responsibility and learning a skill that, in the worst of scenarios, could save dozens of lives.
What do you think? Should teachers be allowed to arm themselves?
